Observations: This activity is voluntary
Language of instruction: English
Duration of the activity: 150 hours over three or five years, depending on whether the students are full-time or part-time.
Justification of the activity (competences to be acquired by students): To promote multidisciplinary integration and internationalisation not only of each of the doctoral students taking part in the mobility programmes, but also of the doctoral programme itself.
The specific competences to be achieved through mobility actions will coincide with those described for training activities 3, 4 and 6, in which mobility grants and actions will be applied.
Learning outcomes: Demonstrate ability to integrate and work in other groups. Exchange knowledge and research results. To express oneself in English.
Contents: The mobility actions are aimed at promoting the exchange and mobility of students in the Advanced English Studies Doctoral Programme through the mobility programmes and grants that may be established or to which students may apply, allowing them to carry out some of the training activities designed in this programme. Specifically, the aim is to:
(1) Promote the attendance and participation of doctoral students enrolled in the programme in training activities carried out in other universities or national or foreign research centres, which are related to the lines of research included in the doctoral programme and may be of interest to researchers in training.
(2) To facilitate stays of more than one month and no more than six (except in those cases in which there is a prior agreement to carry out part of the thesis in the host research centre) in foreign research centres of recognised prestige, carrying out research work that is relevant to their doctoral training and the development of the doctoral thesis and that enriches the lines of research of the different research groups integrated in the programme.
Planning - temporal organisation of the activity for full-time or part-time students: The Academic Committee will promote that all doctoral students on the programme can carry out at least one of each of the training activities that require mobility grants, specifically:
(1) In collaboration with the tutor and/or director of each doctoral student, it will facilitate that they attend from the second year and until the end of their doctoral training period to a congress or scientific meeting and that they can take a training course of a methodological, specialised or practical nature. To this end, the programme's web page will maintain permanent and updated information on national meetings and congresses as well as on training courses of interest to doctoral students.
(2) Maintain updated information on existing collaborations between the Doctoral Programme and foreign research groups of international relevance that cover the different lines of research of the programme and the specific training interests of each doctoral student and make it possible for all of them to opt for a stay during their doctoral training period.
(3) The allocation of exchanges and mobility activities in each case will be made in order of application to the Academic Committee, one per student in each of the possible modalities: attendance at conferences and presentation of papers, attendance at courses and research stays.
(4) The temporary organisation of mobility for each student will be proposed by agreement between the doctoral student and his/her tutor and/or thesis supervisor. In the case of a research stay, the programming shall be reflected in a mobility plan related to the research plan, specifying the objectives, the duration, the research centre and the responsible researcher in that centre.
(5) In all cases the Academic Committee will evaluate the mobility proposal of each PhD student, within its activity plan, and will decide on its approval with or without modifications.
Planning: timetable of the activity for full-time students
[Note: more information (how many to do, how much it costs the student, when, etc)].
Planning - time organisation of the activity for part-time students: Note: more information (how many to carry out, how much for the student, when, etc.)].
Planning - human resources for its development: No specific human resources other than those of the Programme itself are required to carry out this training activity.
Planning - material resources for its development: As mobility grants aimed at promoting training activities of types 3 and 4, there are two programmes of the Vice-Rectorate for Research, managed through the Research Management Agency (http://campus.usal.es/~agencia/ ):
(a) Research Staff Mobility
(b) Dissemination of Results
In addition, all research groups allocate part of their project budgets to partially finance the attendance of researchers at scientific congresses and meetings, where they can communicate and present their results.
In order to encourage doctoral students to undertake at least one stay during their doctoral training period, the following actions will be carried out The Doctoral Programme will participate in calls for excellence awards or other international, national or regional calls that contemplate and facilitate the subsequent participation of doctoral students in calls for mobility grants.
Assessment and monitoring procedure: Mobility will not entail any assessment or monitoring other than that established for each of the activities that require it, so that in each case the procedures described for training activities 3, 4 or 6 will be applied as appropriate.
Observations: This activity is voluntary
