Access requirements

Recommended admission profile

The Interuniversity Doctoral Programme is especially recommended for graduates in English Philology, or equivalent or related degrees, who have completed a master's degree in the fields of English Language, Literature and Culture. The required level of English is C2, both oral and written.

Students should have the following characteristics:

  • Personal: Have an open personality and demonstrate an enormous capacity for work, curiosity, a desire for self-improvement and versatility in order to be able to interact in scientific meetings and seminars.
  • Research: To have demonstrated research skills in the Master's programme (TFM or similar). To want to deepen in the lines of research developed by the departments of both universities, and UVA. Preferably, to have participated in scientific meetings or published a research article. Professional experience in the field of English language teaching will also be an asset.

The requirements for access to doctoral studies are set out in article 6 of Royal Decree 99/2011, of 28 January, which regulates official doctoral studies, as amended by Royal Decree 576/2023, of 4 July.
